On December 12, 2022, part 6 of the Mary Copeland series was released in the Netherlands. Since 'only' part 1 has been published in England by Austin Macauley, I cannot of course tell you what this part is about.
Mary develops as a detective, as a person, and she meets new people. The reviews of the earlier volumes show that many readers are captivated by the storytelling style, the author's knowledge of London at the time and the development of the characters. In addition, they are impressed by the stories themselves, the plots and the way Mary solves the crimes. Sometimes the outcomes are predictable, but the road to get there is experienced as very pleasant. Finally, it is also often reviewed that the series would lend itself well to a television series.
An example from one of the reviews, in this case part 4:
"Just like in the previous parts, Robbert Jan Swiers has managed to intertwine fact and fiction in Mary Copeland 4, such as the story of the oldest museum in Berlin. Even though this series of books is set in the Victorian era and is fiction, the descriptions of perpetrator profiles and the mentally ill are still largely, if not entirely, the same today." If everything goes according to plan, parts 7 and 8 will appear in 2023. Of course, I will keep you informed.
Sincerely,
Robbert Jan.
