MARY COPELAND: VICTORIAN DETECTIVE PUBLISHED

On June 30, my book Mary Copeland: Victorian detective was published. Of course I am very happy with that. As a Dutch author with more than eighty book titles to my name, it is quite special that a book is now being published for the English-language market. I am very curious if the book will be successful.

Mary Copeland: Victorian detective examines the life of this young woman who is raised by her uncle and aunt in London in the late nineteenth century and who develops into a detective of stature who works on request for Scotland Yard. As a woman, however, it is almost impossible to fulfil a social function and so she has to do her job anonymously. She is assisted in this by employees of Scotland Yard, with whom she forms a secret unit over time.

This is my first blog. I plan to post weekly on my website. Then I will write about the stories, the people who appear in them, the time in which they lived and what moved me to write these stories and something about myself and my work. Just to mention something: in the first story Mary has to deal with the discovery of bodies that have been skinned. The publisher calls the stories, among other things, “entertaining and gripping with clever plot changes.” I hope the reader will judge them that way too.

With kind regards,

Robbert Jan Swiers.
